On days that include important or stressful events, and when I travel, I typically wear a necklace given to me by my sister on the day she got married.  The pendant on the necklace is a locket, and I have yet to put a photograph in it; but the outside is a teeny, tiny, compass.  The compass doesn’t work, but that doesn’t matter.  It reminds me that — rather than listening to outside forces — what I need is inside me, and if I listen closely, I know which way to go.
