Planning for Red Rocks

I’ll try to keep this to a minimum, since reading about climbing is more interesting than reading about planning for climbing — but, while I let a little shoulder pull heal one more day I’m out of the gym and on the sofa. Chris is watching cartoons, so I couldn’t help but pick up Shawn’s Red Rocks SuperTopo book he so generously loaned us in a moment of bliss that he’s not the sucker planning this particular trip. I went through it again today looking for south-facing areas that will be good for climbing in late December, and that have a variety of routes since Chris and I are still newer leaders, and V and Shawn are practically professionals. I already put down some “someday” wishlist climbs — specifically, a visit to Black Velvet Wall when weather permits. But, for this cold season trip, it looks like our best bets may be Calico Hills, Oak Creek Canyon, and Brass Wall. This will be my first Red Rocks trip, so I’m open to suggestions and commenting is enabled!
